Founder and Managing Director Matthew Bell completed an MA in Social Anthropology with Development from Edinburgh University in 1995 and shortly afterwards joined a public affairs agency that specialised in issues surrounding billion-pound regeneration projects.

Subsequently, Matthew adopted a more 'hands-on' approach and launched Matthew Bell Associates in the late 1990s. The aim was to pioneer new ways of doing business and challenge conventional paradigms. He attained significant success in helping to develop the organic produce sector from a 'cottage industry' to the commercial-scale industry it is today, by linking seemingly opposing values in a series of successful and profitable partnerships that reached significant scale. As well as achieving financial success, these projects saved over 500 rural jobs and helped to diversify over 1000 farms that had been facing bankruptcy. Significant positive environmental outcomes were also gained.

By 2006 Matthew had generated a new vision to develop and support broader partnering models that encourage unusual collaborations between multiple organisations, with the aim of achieving cutting-edge social and environmental outcomes and deeper levels of organisational transformation. OurEnterprise formed in January 2007 to deliver this vision.

Today OurEnterprise is focused on revolutionising the world of regeneration, social investment, and the wider environmental and social commerce sectors, working with a broad range of top names within private, public and third sector organisations.
